About The Teachers

Shawn Bernard has been teaching middle school at St. Joseph's, and moved to
fifth grade last year.  

Krista Redmond- I am a native Texan and a graduate of Texas Christian 
University with a degree in Middle School Education. Go Frogs! I have 
previously taught 6th grade Language Arts in Plano, Texas at Haggard Middle 
School. I moved to Shreveport because my husband is in his third year of 
medical school at LSUHSC. This is my second year at St. Joseph's teaching 
5th grade...an age that I truly enjoy! It is better to catch me before 
school because I direct the Dance Team at Byrd High School and take off 
pretty quick after school. I am truly looking forward to a fantastic year 
with your student!

Mission For The Class

  We believe that every child can learn and that as teachers we 
should strive to make our students life-long learners.  In a caring 
environment, every child should be able to reach their full 
potential as students.  We encourage the students to take responsibility for
themselves and their actions.  In addition, we believe that there are 
lessons we teach the students here at school that go beyond their 
academics.  We want to model joy, kindness, and compassion.  Though they are 
not a part of an academic curriculum, these attributes are far more 
important than anything else we could possibly pass on to your children.  
Attitudes are contagious, and we strive to "promote the positive" in 5th 
grade.
