MATH - We will be investigating Variables and Patterns with our Guaranteed
Curriculum. Logic, Algebra, Super Stars will challenge our mathematical
thinking. Bike Day was fun! We are looking forward to Stock Market, Pi Day,
and Geometry Stained Glass projects as we progress through the year.
The STOCK MARKET CONTEST will be going on throughout the first semester.
Last year's winners were "The Pencil Pushers Investment Club" and the "ZECK
Investment Club." With our current financial climate, making a profit will
be a challenge. Weekly Logic, SuperStars, Algebra and Every Day Counts are
due each Friday.
SCIENCE - Physical Science is our focus for this year. We will explore,
research, and be creative with science. We may have an Academy Award/Nobel
Prize winner in our class! Vocabulary and additional materials are
on the science website at www.harcourtschool.com. Be sure to log on
using "Jones." Our Element PowerPoints were a great success! Next up -
Create your own Electromagnetic Spectrum Super Hero.
SOCIAL STUDIES - Global Cultures and Geography highlight our study topics.
PowerPoints, Brochures, Food and Fun reinforce exploration of each culture.
Sixth Grade has an exciting Greek Day planned later in the year. Wear your
favorite "toga" or dress as your favorite Greek god/hero. Winners will be
featured in the local news and the Tchefuncte yearbook. Our book is online
at www.pearsonsuccessnet.com using the login of "gatorsgr6" and
password "student."
