Rosie and Pinky
Rosie and Pinky are our 2
tarantulas. Rosie is a Chilian
Rose Hair tarantula and Pinky is
a Guyana Pinktoe tarantula. Both
are South American spiders but do
not live in the same areas in the
wild and therefore have
separate homes in the classroom.
Rosie is a terrestrial species
living on the ground and she
spends a greatdeal of time in her
flower pot. Pinky is an arboreal
spider building canopy or tunnel
like webs in the trees. Both eat
live crickets and are quite
beautiful. |

Sandfire
Sandfire is an adult male corn
snake. Corn snakes are a
temperate species who are
happiest when the temperature is
70 degrees. In the wild they are
often found near farms and under
pine branches. Sandfire spends
his days peeking out from his
hiding cave or moving around his
40 gallon tank, checking out what
is going on in the classroom. He
is a member of the constrictor
family and eats mice. He is very
docile and easily handled. |
Other Fish - gold gourami
Other Fish is a fairly good sized
fish and presently shares a tank
with Larry. He is a large enough
fish that Larry does not consider
him food yet. At some point Other
Fish will need to move into a new
tank but for now he and Larry are
very happy together. |

Kermit
Kermit is our purple pincher
hermit crab. And has been in the
classroom for over a year. He
lives in a mixture of
ground coconut shavings and sand
with lots of things to climb on
as well as extra shells to move
into when he grows out of his.
He has a salt bath and
drinking water and spend most of
his days sleeping dug down into
the sand. |
