Welcome to second grade at Barry School! What an exciting time in your
child’s life! As I do each September, I am looking forward to a fantastic
year full of fun and learning.
I would like to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Jill Phelan.
I have been teaching for nine years. I spent my first two years at a
private school where I worked with the pre-kindergarten students. After
that I taught kindergarten in Springfield for three and a half years. Most
recently, I began working here at Barry as a Title One teacher and took over
second grade upon returning from my maternity leave. Teaching
second grade has been a wonderful experience for me, one that I look forward
to sharing with your children. I am excited to watch them grow and learn
throughout the school year.
I feel that contact with you child’s teacher is very important for a
successful year. I am always available by phone, email or by meetings upon
request. The school phone number is 594-3425. If I am unavailable to take
your call, please leave a message and I will get back to you on my free
period. I check my email frequently throughout the day, in the evenings and
on weekends. This is the best way to first get in touch with me. Through
email we can schedule a face-to-face conference or simply discuss your

It is my hope and goal that everyone have successful year. I look forward
