My child often tells me he/she has no homework. What should I do?

Write a note in your child's daily agenda expressing your
concern. Your child has homework everyday (including weekends).
Ocassionally they may not have any homework. However the
nomal homework is 20 minutes of READING each night and an
EVERYDAY MATH STUDY LINK WORKSHEET (sometimes other math work is
substitued for the Study Link). Spelling, Science, Social
Studies or Writing homework may vary week to week.

What if my child lost their Read and Respond form for reading homework?

If it happens often you should contact your child's reading
teacher and make sure your child is using a homework folder
to transport papers to and from school and home. Otherwise
your child may use any piece of paper available at home to
write down the title and author of the book they are reading.
Your child should also write a brief summary of what they read,
have a parent or guardian sign that they listened or observed
them reading for 20 minutes.

How can I help my child with difficult Everyday Math homework assignments?

First you should go to your EVERYDAY MATH FAMILY NEWSLETTER
which is sent home at the beginning of each math unit.
On the last page you will the answers to that unit's homework
assignments. These answers are provided to help parents help
their children,NOT FOR THE CHILDREN TO COPY. If the answers
aren't helpful enough or you don't understand the method
that is being taught in class, your child has a hard
covered Everyday Math textbook called the STUDENT REFERENCE
BOOK. If you have signed a textbook consent form at the
beginning of the year and your child has a backpack in
school to transport the STUDENT REFERENCE TEXT BOOK, your
child may bring the book home. This book has essays,
definitions, and examples explaining all the math concepts
we work on in class. IT IS A WONDERFUL RESOURCE FOR YOU!
