I am in my third year as an Earth Science teacher after nine years as the
CTMS health teacher. Although I miss the rewards of teaching health and
having students from all grades, I am excited and enthusiastic about teaching
Earth Science and working closely with sixth graders.
The goals for students in Earth science include assisting in the child's
development as an independent learner, developing a natural curiosity about
science and the world around us, and developing a mastery of the scientific
concepts in the grade 6 Earth Science curriculum.
Emphasis on organization, note-taking skills, use of the agenda book and
science binder will help the student become confident in him/herself as a
learner. Students will be encouraged and expected to assume responsibility
for school property, assigned homework, and completing missed work. Since
homework is done to introduce new concepts, or reenforce learned material,
any student may pass in high quality late homework at the start of the next
class.
