November is a busy month with lots for us to do. We are working on developing confidence in math problem solving and fast math facts. We are also working to develop great reading habits that will support growth and deep comprehension. We are working to promote creative writing too! Second grade is definately a busy place, and we are moving along.

This month we will continue our learning, but we also pause to complete some district assessments in reading and writing (all Somerset second graders will take the same tests). Your children have had direct instruction and many small group and individual opportunities to explore & practice skills during the first couple months of school. All have prepared each one of them for success.

You have received some grades in both math and reading. The grades you see coming home on select papers reflect your child's independent performance. We strive for 3's, and make plans to support all children who have not achieved a 3. This can take time for some children.
