Math: We will continue our work with number stories. We'll learn about collection stories using 3 variables. We'll also practice solving all number stories we have learned before we test our skills next week.

Reading: We will continue our work with poetry. We will explore the many forms of poetry during our whole class shared reading time. We'll discover poems tell a story, but sometimes in a different way - sometimes in a 'code' that we need to 'crack'. We will also build a poetry wall with the many new vocabulary words we'll use as we learn about poetry. There will be homework with poems to read and share with a family member.

Spelling & Language: We will continue our exploration of sentences. We'll work to determine what kind of sentence is written (statement, question, exclamation, & command). Many children understand the differences, but do not yet know the vocabulary of labeling kinds of sentences. We'll work on this for a couple weeks.

Writing: This week we'll continue working on writing descriptive paragraphs. We'll write about some favorite things as practice before we begin our district writing prompt which all second graders will write.
