Literacy Workstations / Centers
As a part of the kindergarten balanced
literacy program, kindergartners engage in daily literacy workstations to
further develop their literacy skills. Workstations in our classroom include:
"Read the Room" workstation
"Write the Room" workstation
Computer workstation
ABC workstation
Phonemic Awareness workstation
Phonics workstation
Magnetic Letters workstation
Word Work workstation
Poetry workstation
Buddy Reading workstation
Classroom Library workstation
Big Book workstation
Overhead workstation
Listening workstation
Writing workstation
Handwriting workstation
Each day children work with partners and
are given several workstations as daily choices. They use a chart to manage
their choices which rotate every day. Parent volunteers are used to support
workstation activities and to provide small group opportunities for additional
reinforcement of skills.
