How can I help out in the classroom?

Any parent interested in volunteering at Cole School must complete a CORI form
through the Cole School main office. A sign up sheet will be available at the
Sept. open house/parent night for those parents/grandparents
wishing to help out in our classroom.

How can I support my child's learning this year?

Please set aside time EVERY DAY to read books! It is important to read a
variety of texts: from short predictable books with colorful illustrations
for our beginning readers to longer storybooks with rich vocabulary. If your
child enjoys chapter books, ask questions to strengthen comprehension skills.
Don't forget to read non-fiction and poetry! Children enjoy that 1-1 time
with parents, whether snuggled in bed or in a cozy chair. More
helpful suggestions will be forthcoming in our monthly newsletters sent home
at the end of each month.

How can I reach Mrs. York?

I prefer a note sent to school (put in homework folder) or a short message on
my voice mail (978-887-2856 x106). I will try to get back to you the same
day when I am not teaching.

Do you celebrate birthdays?

Children's birthdays are no longer celebrated with cupcakes or other
food items sent in. Children's names are announced over the PA system and
birthdays are remembered in a small way in the classroom. Parents may wish to
contact me to discuss other suitable options for making it a special
day (i.e. special project, small party favor, story/follow-up activity, etc.)

When do we meet for conferences?

Conferences are held in December and March- the dates to be determined.
Please watch for the school calendar to be sent home in September. Please
remember that we do not need to wait until conference time to chat. I can
always make time to talk on the phone or meet when necessary.
