Grade 2 and Multi-Age - April and May - Favorite Fish Books in Spanish. In preparation for the Expo on
May 29th, second grade and Multi-age students will be learning excerpts from Dr. Seuss's book, One
Fish Two Fish, in Spanish, with the collaboration of Senor Marin, our Spanish language teacher and also
using Mexican folk art fish made in Art class with Mrs. Dalton as props as they recite what they have
learned on stage.

BOOK SWAP FAQ’S
WHAT is a Book Swap? A Book Swap in the Cole School library the week of Monday June 9 – Friday June
13 is an opportunity for students to trade books they have already read for different, “new to them”
books to enjoy over the upcoming summer.
HOW does it work? Students in grades K-2 may bring up to three (3) books into school during their
regular library class the week of June 2-6. Students will be given a Book Swap ticket for each of up to
(3) books they bring in. Classroom teachers will keep the tickets for the children until the week of the
Swap.
ARE all books considered equal? – Students aren’t typically interested in books they consider “babyish”.
If a book is too young for your child, chances are it will be too young for other students as well.
Chapter books and non-fiction books are very popular; picture books are not. Magic Tree House books
are good examples of the type of books children like to choose.
All students are better readers in the spring than they were in the fall, so they will be interested in
books that reflect their higher reading level.
DOES my child have to participate? - No, this is not a required activity and those not swapping actually
have fun helping their classmates choose books. There will be other library activities offered as well.
CAN my child change his/her mind about a Swapped book? – Please be certain that you child is truly
ready to part with a book before it gets brought in for a swap. Books cannot be returned or exchanged
once they are swapped.
