How do I know what's happening in the classroom every day?

Every child in first grade is provided with a "Take-Home" folder. They
should bring this folder home every day and they should return it to school
every morning. In it you will find our weekly schedule, any of the school's
notices, your child's homework assignments and completed papers. You will
also find any notes from me. Please remember to check out your child's
folder every day.

What is the best way to keep in touch with my child's teacher and the school?

You can use your child's "Take-Home" folder to send in any notes for the
school or for me. Your child is responsible for bringing their folder to me
every morning along with their lunch or milk money.
You can also call the school, 781-585-3659. Each teacher has their own
extension and if I can't answer the phone when you call, you can always
leave a message. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Does my child need a snack every day?

Yes. Children should bring their own snack daily and a drink. These snacks
should be something that can be eaten in about 10 minutes. Due to concerns
regarding serious food allergies, snacks containing nuts, or cooked with
nuts may not be brought into the classroom. Students are
responsible for getting out their own snack and cleaning up after themselves.

Are there any special projects or assignments in first grade?

Yes. When a special project or assignment is given there will be a notice
sent home and an announcement posted on my web site. In the past we have
done projects in the areas of science and reading.

What about field trips?

Look for announcements coming home in your child' "Take-Home" folder. Also
check out our web page's calendar and announcement links.

I'ld like to volunteer. How do I do this?

Call me at school, 781-585-3659, or write me a note. Beginning in October,
I plan to use volunteers in the classroom to work with small groups of
students as they rotate through learning centers. Volunteers can also help
out in the school's workroom copying materials and putting together
classroom books. Each classroom also has room parents that help organizing
classroom events from home.
The school also needs volunteers in other areas such as the library, the art
room and the Docent Art program. To inquire about these opportunities,
please call the school.
