FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
Mr. Girard and Mrs Seyfert will teach every subject except for Science and Social Studies. Mr. Girard will teach Social Studies to both classes and Mrs. Seyfert will teach Science to both classes. Do I need to bring a snack to school each day? Yes, there will be a working snack each morning. There are students in our classroom with a severe allergy to peanuts and/or nuts, egg products, and watermelon. Exposure to these products can result in a life threatening reaction. Strict avoidance is the only way to prevent a severe allergic reaction. A reaction may be brought on by the touch and smell of these products as well as consuming them. We must do all we can to provide our students with a safe learning environment. In an effort to allow all students to participate fully in classroom activities, we ask that you DO NOT SEND IN ANY FOODS FOR YOUR CHILD’S SNACK OR CLASSROOM PARTIES THAT CONTAIN PEANUTS, NUTS, PEANUT/NUT OIL, EGG PRODUCTS, OR WATERMELON. Please purchase foods with labels that can be checked for ingredient safety. Peanuts and peanut oil can be found in many foods, including baked goods and most chocolate candies. Foods with peanuts, walnuts, almonds, pecans, etc., peanut/nut oils, egg products, or watermelon will not be allowed in our classroom. Below is a list of some suggested snacks that do not contain peanuts/nuts. Cereal (Cheerios, Fruit Loops, Chex) Pretzels Cheese-its Pringles Dum Dum Pops Rice Crispy Treats Fritos Saltines Fruit * (not watermelon) Skittles GoldFish Smart Food Pop Corn Graham Crackers TeddyGrahams(all, but chocolate chip) Hershey Plain Chocolate Bar or Kisses Twizzlers Kellogg’s Nutra Grain Bars Vegetables* Lays Potato Chips Wheat Thins Nabisco Oreos (Plain) Yogurt without toppings * highly recommended Because lunch is eaten in the cafeteria, your child may bring peanut butter, peanut/nut products, egg products, or watermelon for lunch. There is a designated peanut/nut free, egg free, and watermelon free table where any classmate without these foods may sit. If your child sits at this table with a peanut/nut product, egg product, or watermelon, he or she will be asked to sit at another table. This plan will help maintain safety in the classroom, while non-allergic classmates enjoy peanut/nut products, egg products, and watermelon in a controlled environment. We appreciate your support in this matter. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Will I have homework every night? Homework will be assigned daily. Homework should take approximately 30 - 40 minutes to complete. Each student will write the assignments in his or her agenda. Parents are asked to sign the agenda daily. Are there any special projects or assignments in third grade? In third grade there will be a few special projects in Science and Social Studies throughout the year. Parents will be notified in advance of the project. Third graders will also be responsible for completing assigned bookreports throughout the year. |
