Announcements

5-14-12 Please have your child at school on May 25th by 8:15. We will be
taking attendance and getting on the bus to leave for 8:30. We will be
returning to school so that children can take their regular bus home. Please
make sure to walk your child down to their classroom and please do not drop
them off early. If they attend the before school program please let us know
that they will be walking up from the cafeteria. Thank you in advance for
your help.

1-3-12 Welcome back! I hope that you had a great relaxed holiday. Just
before the break your child brought home a username and password for IXL a
terrific math program that has been purchased for each child at Mayo to
practice on. I would ask that you try to encourage your child to go on the
website a few times a week and practice any skill they would like. This
website in very engaging and enjoyable and it gives instant feedback. Please
let me know how it is working out at home.
~We began unit 9 in Fundations which introduces ir, er, and ur.
~Jan Brett is the author that we will be studying over the next few weeks
during Reader's Workshop.
~We are adding and renaming numbers. Mrs. Leith will be in next Tuesday to
teach us how to play the base 1o game.
Thank you for your continued support!

11-22-11 Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

10-17-11 Today a project is being sent home for your child to complete for
the literacy parade. It is called a book Jackdaw. Please help your child
collect an item that represents the content of the book. They will need to
have it brought in by Thursday, October 27th. The literacy parade is going to
be held at 2:30 on Friday, October 28th (weather permitting).

9-30-11 We have officially finished the month of September and with that
completed Fundations unit 1 and 2, and the first unit in math. The children
have worked very hard at their academics, but even more importantly they have
grown as a community. We in second grade have focused on building a safe and
enjoyable community in the second grade pod, as well as, Mayo School. A great
conversation to have with your child is what it means to "Fill a Bucket". I
thank you for your continued support.

9-15-11 Curriculum night is tonight at 7pm. If you are unable to come
please let me know and I will send home some information.

The first day of school is August 30th and I look forward to meeting my new
students.
