Essex PTO Update Mid November 2009
Have you checked out the Auction site yet?? If not, click on the link NOW! You will be amazed by the fantastic items available!!! Some of the hot items include 4 Bruins tickets, a day at the Museum of Science with Ms. Stanley, and week in a Vermont vacation home. If you are looking for an undiscovered gem, poke around and you will find a few of them! These items have low or no bids yet: karate lessons, tickets to the Newport mansions in RI, 3 hours of babysitting, a membership to the Mount Washington Observatory, 2 hours of tutoring, and even more! Just think, by reading this, you have the jump on the rest of the community! The auction will run for 17 days thru December 3rd. We'll have a pick up day at the school
on December 5th (the same day as Santa’s breakfast). Have fun shopping!

Essex Fire Company Spaghetti Supper: The Essex Fire Company will be holding its 19th Annual Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday November 21, 2009 from 5 till 8 PM at the Essex Memorial Fire Station. Donations taken at the door and are greatly appreciated. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you there!!!
2009 Annual Amazing Turkey Hunt: Turkey Hunt takes place on Saturday, November 21 at 2 pm sharp at the Town Hall. The Essex Youth Commission will hide 3 fake turkeys somewhere in Essex and you will have to follow the clues to find the cagey birds. Participants will meet at the Town Hall at 2:00 PM where a packet of clues will be handed out. Then it is up to you to pick which of the turkeys you want to look for. If you are lucky enough to find one of our feather friends, you will be awarded a certificate for a free turkey. After finding a turkey you must return it to the Town Hall to receive your certificate.

Santa at the Fair: Santa will take orders from the kids on Saturday, Nov. 21, when the First Congregational Church of Essex holds a Christmas fair in the parish hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Christmas shoppers' list includes crafts and seasonal decorations handmade by members of the parish. Specialty tables feature jewelry, holiday glassware, white elephant items, baked goods, an international foods table, dinner offering and all sorts of raffles. For the kids, there'll be clowns, face painting and photos with Santa. Lunch concessions will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza and beverages. Turkey Trot: On Sunday, Nov. 22, the Essex Lions Club will hold its 28th annual Essex Turkey Trot; 8K road race is at 1 p.m., and the non-competitive fun walk is at noon. Walk-up registration is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., located above Woodman's Restaurant, on the Top Deck. Refreshments are free and will include Woodman's award-winning chowder. The first 200 paid entries will receive free long-sleeved T-shirts, and there will be prizes for winners in each age group. For information, visit www.essexmalions.com/turkeytrot.html.
Calling All Box Tops!!
Only 2 more weeks left for the Box Tops Trading Post!! The Box Top Trading Post will be open every Monday in November before and after school. For every 5 box tops brought in, your child can trade in for a small prize. So if your child brings in 10 box tops, s/he will be able to choose 2 prizes and so on. We'll be on the playground before school and in the lobby after school. Be sure to send in your box tops and remind your children to look for us!
