Library/Media Center


The Foxborough High School Library / Media Center is the information hub of the school. It offers students useful materials as well as information that can be accessed electronically from around the globe, from LMC computers or at home.

Students can explore a book collection of almost 20,000 volumes. The FHS LMC subscribes to dozens of magazines and journals as well as daily newspapers. The Magazine Archives Room stores thousands of back issues dating to the 1960’s. Other print materials include collections of pamphlets and news clippings. Video recordings are circulated to faculty or used within the LMC.
The SAILS iBistro system allows students to locate materials in the collection as well as materials available for inter-library loan.

Students and faculty can log in to their FHS SAILS accounts to search for materials and place holds. Faculty who haven't created Alt IDs can do so by stopping by the Media Center. For students, the Alt ID is their Student ID plus the letter "F" (for "Foxborough"):

Centrally located within the high school building, the two-level Library Media Center contains Lab Central, with 24 networked computers with Internet access and laser printers; a video / communications suite with a TV studio and control room; and additional PCs for student research and Virtual High School classes.
 
Admittance Policy

Students may sign into the Library Media Center at the following times:
• at the beginning of a directed study period,
• before and after the school day,
• as a member of a class brought by a teacher.

Behavior Expectations

It is important that while in the LMC, students strive to maintain an atmosphere that will enable everyone using the facility to study effectively and research without distraction. Students behaving disruptively may lose Media Center privileges. Food and drink should not be brought into the LMC.

Circulation of Materials
Books have a two-week loan period.
Magazines may be borrowed overnight. The current or latest issues do not circulate.
Reserved books, a collection gathered by the LMC staff to support a particular course or project, may circulate overnight only at the discretion of the librarian, and are to be returned before the start of school on the following day.
Curriculum videos circulate only to faculty, but may be viewed by students in the LMC.
Any lost or damaged materials will be replaced at assessed value.
When materials are overdue or late fees assessed, no further items may be borrowed until the materials are returned and fines paid.
