The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) P At every PAC meeting, there is an open discussion period for any new business, questions or ideas from any parent. If you are not able to attend the meeting you can e-mail questions to any officer and they will bring it up during discussion and return an answer to you. Each meeting will have a specific agenda, formulated by the PAC officers, to help achieve the following goals: • To provide an open channel of communication among those concerned with the education of our children. • To foster an understanding of all school programs and policies. • To provide overall support to parents, teachers and administrators. • To assist in providing funding for special events, cultural enrichment, equipment, and materials which will enhance the educational process. President: (Serves as overall administrator and spokesperson for the PAC) Vice President: (Assumes the duties of the President in his/her absence and coordinates the room parents) Treasurer: (Financial agent for the PAC) Secretary(s): (Serves as the scribe and maintains correspondence for the PAC) Cultural Enrichment Chairperson: (Works with other school representatives to identify through previews and shared information, programs that correlate with the curriculum) PAC MEETINGS FOR 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR All meetings start at 7pm and last approximately 1 hour. If you can attend any of the meetings though out the school year, we would welcome your attendance. But we also understand that parents are on time constraints with babysitters, activities and work. Please feel free to email us for information regarding any of the meetings if you are unable to attend. Please visit our website for the agenda and minutes of the meeting. www.danvers.mec.edu/greatoak.cfm (add it to your favorites!!!) Also, Danvers is one of the few towns around that gives parents a regular opportunity to meet with administrators to ask questions and get and give feedback on our children’s education. Our PACE meeting dates and locations for this year are: MEET YOUR PAC OFFICERS FOR THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR Kevin Wood-President Chad Cerullo-Vice President Katie Pyburn-Treasurer Anne Casale-Skinner & Malinda Harris- Co-Secretaries Kathy Lopes & Erica Rossitto- Cultural Enrichment First PAC Meeting of the school year was held Sept. 20 First off we would like to thank the Daily Harvest Cafe for the coffee and pastries! TREASURERS REPORT PAC voted to transfer a portion of funds from the after school Enrichment Program to General PAC. PAC also voted to split 50/50 the Library Fundraiser which consists of 2 Book Fairs per year, with the General PAC Fund. General PAC pays for half of the costs associated with special field trips throughout the year to keep the costs at a minimum for our families. CULTURAL ENRICHMENT Kathy Lopes and Erica Rossitto Chairpersons We are always looking for ideas and open to any suggestions you may have about a guest speaker or author or event that would introduce our children to something new. PRINCIPALS REPORT Meal Magic Update So far we are pleased with the program. A few parents expressed concern that their children did not have enough time to eat their lunch due to a delay in getting meals. This is a new system for Great Oak and with any new system, we just need a little time to get the quarks worked out. Overall, its a great success! Try to remind your children of their 6 digit code. If they don't remember, they can just give their name to the cafe attendant. Parent Volunteers for Recess Mr. Fusco is looking for parents who can oversee recess and play games with the children to give them a little more interaction at recess time. There will be training for parent volunteers... See Mr. Fusco.. Thank you to all who have volunteered so far.
