PTO Objectives
To promote activities that benefit students, staff and families of the
Helen Hansen School
To promote open communication between teachers, parents and students
To encourage school spirit and pride
To raise funds to benefit school activities
What does the PTO do?
The PTO is a group made up of the parents and guardians of our school. Everyone is a member. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate. We work with Principal Pollilio and Mrs. Manchester, (a kindergarten teacher) who are this year's staff representatives to promote activities that enrich students, staff and our families as a community. We together keep the lines of communication open with in the school while encouraging school spirit and pride. The PTO also raises the funds needed to benefit both educational and fun school activities.
Our PTO Fund raisers along with grants pay for school assemblies. We maintain our playground, cover the FULL cost of field trips and fund our Artist-in-Residency Program. We organize lots of fun family events. We recognize and appreciate our faculty for all they do for our students and offer them support for classroom supplies and donate money to community outreach programs as well as scholarships.
How can I get involved?
There are lots of events and projects that need you from volunteering time in the library to popping corn on Fridays. You could help Sue and Kim decorate the cafetorium for the Halloween Dance. Carin Breen will need help at the Book Fair convincing a kindergartener that she doesn’t need to buy 3 copies of the same book and, as always, we will be looking for many extra hands to help out on Field Day. These are just a few examples of where the PTO needs you. Pick some events that interest you and lend a hand, even if it’s as simple as donating bottled water or juice boxes to Family Bingo Night. Every little bit helps.
The more we work together, the more our children and school will reap the benefits!
