For 2011-2012 school year, I am providing specialized instruction for 4th
graders in core academic subjects. I will be coordinating supports both in
and out of the classroom. This year, I am supporting students who are in Mrs.
Shepard's, Ms. Bro's classrooms.
I will be sending homework home on Monday through Thursday evenings. If this
should change, you will be notified. Generally, your son or daughter will
have math and language arts each night. When there are Social Studies tests
assigned, I will scale back my homework to allow them time to help them
study.
As a repeat of last year, I will be working with both the Occupational
Therapist and the Language Teacher to provide integrated, and specialized
services to your child.
I am also investing some time to enhance my website in an attempt to extend
classroom strategies and concepts to your home via the internet. It is hoped
that you will visit now and then to see what is available that you and /or
your child can access to assist them with homework and academic supports.
Always refer to your child's agenda. This is the place where the most current
and reliable information can be found. I would also appreciate it if you
could assist your child with having the agenda out while they do homework,
and to check it off once it is done and returned to the folder and the folder
is placed in backpack. This will greatly help with organization and
establishing a pattern which will carry over into their middle school and
high school years.
I live in Franklin with my husband John and my 9 year old Wheaten Terrier,
Cooper. If you want to check him out, you can click on the "teacher's pet" page. I have a 27
year old son who is just heading back to school himself and a 24 year old daughter who
just got married last June. She now has a 1 yr old Labradoodle who makes us laugh and smile.
I enjoy reading, taking photos and making multimedia presentations with them
to share with family, going to movies, spending time in NH, and many other
hobbies.
My goal is to help students gain insight to how they learn best, learn and
apply strategies to overcome identified areas of weakness, learn self-advocacy skills, grow in
confidence, and become life-long learners while developing positive self-esteem.
