Homework in Room 215
French Immersion Third Grade Homework Information
Below is an outline of routine homework assignments that you can expect
weekly. Students will bring home their English homework in a packet on Monday
and all work should be returned to school on Friday, unless otherwise noted.
Monday
• French Homework
• Reading: 15 minutes in French and 15 minutes in English
Tuesday
• English Homework (either math or spelling)
• Reading: 15 minutes in French and 15 minutes in English
Wednesday
• French Homework
• Reading: 15 minutes in French and 15 minutes in English
Thursday
• English Homework: Study for Spelling
• Reading: 15 minutes in French and 15 minutes in English
In addition to these assignments, each child is responsible for keeping track
of what they are reading at home every week. Every student has an agenda to
write their assignments in. French and English reading will be documented on
a separate reading log that should be brought to school every day and then
handed in on Fridays.
Occasionally special projects are assigned that will take the place of these
routine assignments, for example a book report or research project.
Additional enrichment activities can be provided as needed. Homework should
not take students more than 30 minutes each night.
Homework Expectations
1. Homework should be completed and returned to school the next day.
2. A homework buddy should be called if the student is stuck or forgot
an assignment.
3. If homework is not completed on time, the student or parent should
write a note explaining why.
4. The student is responsible for completing homework assignments.
Parents or other adults can clarify questions for the student, but the work
should be a reflection of what the student is capable of.

Standards for Success
When student work is looked at critically in the classroom it will be based
on the following check system.
√++ You went above and beyond what was expected.
√+ Your work is complete and it shows your best effort.
√ Your work is missing information and you didn’t do your best work.
√- Your work is very incomplete and shows very little effort.
Please keep in mind that 3rd graders need support with homework particularly
in the areas of time management and organization (proper workspace, packing
after completion). Thank you very much for your support!
