FAQ
How long have you been teaching English?
This is my 7th year. I've taught both middle school and high school in New Jersey, and this is my 2nd year here at RAMS. I've also worked at a library in Oklahoma!
Why did you become an English teacher?
I love to write, read, and work with children. It seemed like a natural mix.
What do you love most about teaching?
I love seeing a student's eyes light up when he or she discovers something new. To me, that discovery is true learning. For that reason, I hate giving away the answer. You'll find that I often answer your question with another question. I'd rather help you figure out the meaning than just tell you something you may still not understand.
When you're not teaching, what do you like to do?
I take dance classes, do yoga, and knit. Right now I'm knitting a sweater; hopefully it'll be done by the end of the year! I also dream of publishing a novel one day, but that means I have to write one first.
What are your favorite books?
Watership Down, Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, the Amelia Peabody series... My favorite genres are mystery, romance, and fantasy.
Favorite movie?
Hmm, I have a hard time picking a favorite movie. I can tell you that my all-time favorite tv show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer!
Favorite bands or musicians?
I have several, depending on my mood. Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Rihanna, Adele...
You're from New Jersey. Do you know the cast of Jersey Shore or The Sopranos?
No! Contrary to popular belief (or the media), most people in NJ do not act like that. Actually, I grew up in an area of central Jersey that's very similar to Holliston and metro-west MA.
What is the most important piece of information to know about your class?
It's not about the correct answers on a test; it's about the process of getting there. If you work hard, keep an open mind, and try your best, you'll succeed.
