Preschool News
February 2012
In January we learned about real bears and teddy bears. We talked about brown bears, black bears and polar bears. We acted out "Going on a Bear Hunt." We also focused on our community and community helpers.
Our Preschool Teddy Bears’ Picnic and Parade was held on January 23rd. We had a parade with our teddy bears through the hallways to the office. We listened to the song “Picnic Time for Teddy Bears” and to the story Where’s My Teddy? We danced a special dance with our teddies. We sat on blankets with our teddies and ate teddy grahams and gave a goldfish to the bears.
Thank you to all the parents who came to our "Parent/Teacher Conference." It was great to see you and to talk about your child together.
Plans for February
We will be focusing on farms and farm animals for the month of February as well as some special celebration days. We are learning the nursery rhyme Mary Had a Little Lamb and singing Old McDonald Had a Farm. We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Tuesday, February 7th. We will tour the Kindergarten classes 100 exhibits. In our classroom we will do a variety of "100" themed activities, such as, jumping 100 times. We will be having a Valentine's Day party on Tuesday, February 14th. Please remember to have your child bring a card for everyone in his/her class. Cards with candy attached are not allowed.
FYI: On occasion (once or twice a month) our preschoolers will visit another teacher's classroom to have new experiences and explore different learning materials. The children will visit the classroom as a whole group. We all will enjoy a change of environment with new perspectives.
