The teachers in our foreign language programs are dedicated to
accomplishing the curriculum goals of the Holliston Public Schools through
the medium of second language instruction. Teachers in the French Immersion
Program include Mme Stewart (K); Mme Gerson and Mlle Paillard (1); Mme Nault
and Mlle Royston (2); Mme Picard(3); Mme Coppock (4); Mlle
Wheeler (5); Mme Bunker (6-8); Mme Kinkead (9-10); Dr. Melpignano (10-12) and
Mme Caccavale (9-12). Teachers in the Spanish FLES and follow-up program
include Senorita Oliveira (1-3); Sra Berican (1-3); Senorita Crefeld (3-5);
Sra Lerch (3-5); Sra Blinder (6-8); Sra Meade (6-8); Sra Bullard (6-8); Sra
Beltran (6-8). Mme Pettinicchio teaches the traditional French classes at the
Middle School level (6-8).
The mission of all of our Foreign Language Programs in Holliston is one and
the same: to produce citizens who can effectively communicate in more than
one language while demonstrating cross-cultural understanding and tolerance
of ideas and languages different from our own. By developing efffective
curriculum standards in the areas of Communication, Cultures, Comparisons,
Connections to other disciplines and Communities, we will ensure that our
students meet the standards set forth in National, State and District
documents. Increased literacy achievement in English is also a realistic
outcome of effective second language instruction.
