Dear Parents,
Every week, a child will be highlighted as the student of the week. He or she will get to share all
the special details about him or herself with the class. By doing this, I hope to promote higher self-
esteem as well as encourage the class to take notice of one another.
On the Monday of your child’s week, please send in one 3X5 or smaller picture. This can be a baby
picture or a more recent picture. I know that some people store them away, so I will always have a
picture from school on hand. On the Friday of your child’s week, he or she will have the opportunity to
bring in something special. Please make sure your child brings in 1-2 items to share.
In the past, some parents have sent in the special item with the picture on the Monday of your
child’s week. I will always store items in a special place until Friday if you choose to send it in early.
This can be a special book, toy, collection, memorabilia, instrument, or anything else that you think is
appropriate for school. If you are not sure about a certain item, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me.
Lastly, I’ve posted the Star of the Week schedule on our class website. If you have any questions
please feel free to contact me. I am thrilled to start “Star of the Week.”
