Cross Country: Information

In Middle School, the purpose of Cross Country is to introduce students to
running for fun. Cross Country encourages students to build endurance and
strength through jogging and running. At fist we jog/walk, then we jog without
stopping--distance increases as confidence and endurance improves. We run
between 1.5 to 3 miles in an afternoon and cover areas such as wood paths,
sidewalks, small hills, and school fields. The competitive distance for middle
school meets range from 1.5 to 2 miles maximum. We compete with other area
middle schools. Boys and Girls run separate races, but all grades compete
together (6-8).

Cross Country is a great opportunity to socialize and make new friends while
becoming a more fit individual. Boys and Girls practice together. Cross
Country is 5 days a week, including practices and meets. You may miss one day
a week and still attend the week's meet. If you must miss a practice for any
reason, bring a signed note by a parent/guardian or email a coach with the reason.
