Can
you believe it’s February already?
Every year seems to go by faster than the last, but they also get more
exciting. This year is no
exception. We are having a great time learning and exploring. Below you’ll find
an overview of some of the things we are working on. Among other things we are
getting ready to embark on our 2nd round of Book Ads.

Science and Social Studies:
Mrs. McMahon is continuing her unit on Electricity and MCAS Review,
while in Social Studies students are creating group projects using Power Point
to provide a review of Native American Regional differences. They will also be creating an art
project to go along with their presentation that will take place in school.
Writing:
The children are
completing their Snow Stories that incorporated their understanding of the use
of quotations and their winter art project. They are hanging in our hallway, so
feel free to stop by and read them.
Next we will be focusing our writing skills on descriptive/creative
writing.
Evaluating
Questions: Another interesting topic we have been
focusing on is how to Evaluate Questions and break them down into parts that we
need to accomplish. By analyzing
the question and listing out the required steps, students will become better at
answering open response questions more completely. If you get a chance, ask them to share what their strategies
are for doing this.
