Announcements

  Welcome to Kindergarten

                        KINDERGARTEN SCHEDULE:
                SEPTEMBER 1-30 (MONDAY-FRIDAY 8:25-12:00)
BEGINNING OCT. 3 (MON. TUES. THURS.& FRI. 8:25-2:55) (*WED. 8:25-1:00)
*On all school Early Release Days dismissal will be at 12:00.

CALENDAR:
The Kindergarten will follow the same calendar as the Manchester Public
Schools except for the three screening days, set aside for the in-coming
Kindergartners, in March when there will be no Kindergarten classes.

RULES FOR ATTENDANCE:
Please call the school before 8:15 at 978-526-1909 if your child will be
absent. A written note is required each time your child is absent, tardy or
dismissed.

EMERGENCY CARDS:
Each child must have one emergency card on file in the front office and one
in the nurses office. We will ask you to fill out the information during
orientation.

SNACK:
Snack time is a part of the daily schedule in the month of September. It is
essential that each child bring a SMALL nutritious snack (NO peanut products,
candy, fruit roll-ups or gummy fruit) and a drink (milk, juice or water).
Beginning in October children should bring an afternoon snack. There is no
snack on Wednesday.

CLASSROOM SUPPLIES:
In place of an individual student supply list we are asking that each child’s
family contribute $15 to the classroom supply fund. We will use this money
to purchase shared classroom supplies (markers, glue sticks, notebooks,
etc.) for your child to use throughout the year.

LUNCH:
Beginning Oct.3, the children will have lunch at school each day. They will
have the option to purchase school lunch, which includes milk at $2.75 or to
bring a bagged lunch from home. Milk can be purchased for 65 cents. For
your convenience, you can make an advance purchase of lunches and milks.

MONEY:
On occasion it will be necessary for your child to bring money to school.
Always send money in a sealed envelope with the following information written
on it:
· 1 Your child’s first and last name.
· 2 The amount of money.
· 3 The purpose for the money (book money, lunch money, picture money,
           etc.).
· 4 My name.

CLOTHING:
Please send your child to school in comfortable clothing appropriate for an
active morning. Clothes, which are easily laundered and durable, are most
appreciated. Please leave an extra set of clothes in school to be kept in
your child’s locker; please label all articles of clothing (shirt, pants,
underwear and socks). It is necessary to send a smock for art, sneakers for
physical education and a backpack for the safekeeping of papers, notes,
money, lunch and snacks. Keep in mind that the backpack needs to fit into a
locker that has a width of 7 inches and a depth of 12 inches.

BIRTHDAYS:
Birthdays are celebrated in the classroom with a parent reading a favorite
book to the class. Birthday invitations should not be distributed at school.

HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Under Massachusetts’ law, we must have a health form on file for each child.
If you have not already done so, please submit your child’s health form to
the nurse’s office.

TECHNOLOGY:
We will be looking for some help in the computer lab within the next few
weeks. Jenna Seymour, the technology teacher, will be holding an introductory
session for volunteers.

PTO:
The Manchester Memorial School is lucky to have such a supportive group of
parents and the children truly benefit from all of their hard work. We
encourage you to join the PTO and attend the meetings.

COMMUNICATION:
We are looking forward to an excellent year and to utilizing the talent and
dedication of parents. Let us know if you have an idea, a project, a talent,
a profession or a hobby that you would like to share. We encourage you to
become a classroom volunteer (weekly, bi-weekly or monthly). We’ll be glad
to arrange a time for you to join us. Grandparents, and elderly friends
are welcome too. If you have a question please ask. We know that
Kindergarten may be your first experience in public education and we welcome
you into an educational community that cares about you and your child.
