About The Teacher

I am very excited to begin my third year in fourth grade! I made the change to
fourth grade after teaching sixth grade for over twenty years. While I loved
this age group and the curriculum, I felt ready for a change. The change
brought new challenges and excitement.

I have taught in four school districts in Massachusetts - Southampton, Hadley,
Groveland, and Manchester-by-the-Sea where I have been since 1991. In 1996 I
received a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization
in Special Education from Lesley College.

I live in Essex with my husband of nineteen years, my daughter who is a
sophomore at Manchester Essex High School, and my son who is entering fourth
grade at Memorial School. I have had the good fortune of going to school every
day with my children.

I am excited to meet my new group of fourth graders!

Mission For The Class

The mission of our class is to be active, motivated learners that strive to
be the best we can be. We realize that a smile and a sense of humor is one of
the best things we can bring to class.

Room 24 Philosophy:
*We can do more and learn more when we are willing to support each
other and work together.
*We are each intelligent about different things. (Don't ask how smart you
are; ask how you are smart.)
*Everyone needs time to think and to learn. Faster isn't smarter. You are
not expected to understand everything the first time around. Care,
perseverance, and craftmanship are what matter.
*It's okay to make mistakes. That's the way we learn. Mistakes are not a
sign of weakness. Everyone makes them.
*It's intelligent to ask questions and to ask for help.
*EVERYONE is capable of high achievement.
*Consistent effort and effective learning strategies are the main
determinants of success.
