Why do I always have to have a book with me?

Reading is the single best activity you can do to improve your life as
a student. Whenever you have a spare minute, grab your book and read a few pages. Remember,
your goal is to read three books during the first quarter beyond what we read together in class.
You'll also produce a book project for each one of your books.

I noticed you have a lot of books in your classroom. Can I borrow one?

You are welcome to read the books in my classroom at anytime. However, I ask
that you sign the book out and understand that if you lose it, you buy it.
Expect that each of my books cost $10. I spend lots of my own money on books
for our classroom. There is a sign-out book for you to put down the title and author of any book
you borrow. Be sure to show the class librarian that you filled out the form properly.

Why do I have to keep track of the books I read?

Good readers make plans. If you keep track of the books you are reading, you
are likely to read many more books. In addition, you will have a list of the
books you've read that can be recommended(or not) to other readers on our
team. You are the best resource for someone in our class to find a good book.
