I'm very happy about sharing my love of literature with your child in my role
as School Library Media Specialist. Each class visits the library once/week to
listen to stories and find a book to borrow.
At the beginning of the school year we talk about how to take care of books.
It is important that food or drink (and very young siblings!) not come in
contact with library books! We also talked about our responsibility in
remembering to bring the book we borrowed back to school when we've finished
reading. A helpful idea is to have a special place at home for a library book
so it will stay neat and clean and be easy to find when it is time to return
it. I encourage children to keep their book until they are finished reading
it, so they do not have to return the book the week after they borrowed it.
Once they have returned it, they can choose a new one to borrow. If your
child's book should be lost or damaged, please let me know.
I know your child will be bringing home lots of wonderful books from the
library, but they will be even better when they are shared with you! Please
contact me if you ever have questions or concerns.
