Bodily Myths


Have you ever wondered if all the DOs and DON'TS  you've grown up with are based on fact?  Well, as you'll soon find out, some are--- and some aren't!
 
True  or False
 
1.  You shouldn't swim until at least an hour after you've eaten.
 
2.  You should "feed a cold" and "starve a fever."
 
3.  If you get haircuts frequently, your hair will grow faster.
 
4.  You can't get sunburned on a cloudy day.
 
5.  It's soothing to drink milk before bed.
 
6.  When you wrinkle from spending a long time in a bathtub or pool, it's because your skin has soaked up a lot of water.
 
7.  If you cross your eyes too many times they will stay cross.
 
 
 
 
ANSWERS:
1.  True  The stomach can cramp if blood helping you to digest is pulled to muscles needed for swimming.
2.  False  You should feed both a cold and a fever.  Your body needs energy to fight infection.
3.  False  Your hair grows at the same rate whether or not you cut it.
4.  False   Ultra violet rays come through clouds, so you can get sunburned on a cloudy day.
5.  True    Milk helps the release of a tranquilizing substance in your body.
6.  True   Your skin cells become swollen and bunch together, and this is what causes wrinkles.
7.  False  Crossing your eyes will not make them stick that way.
