Recorder Club

UPCOMING PERFORMANCES:
We will be walking over to the Memorial School to perform Holiday
songs for the Kindergarten and First Grade students on Thursday,
December 23,2008. The Club members should wear holiday hats if
they would like! The students should remember their music and
instruments on this day before vacation!

We will also be performing with the fourth grade Chorus and String
students on February 10, 2009 at the Medfield High School.
Reporting times will be posted in January.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The students who join the Recorder Club learn more about playing
the recorder in various ensemble experiences. We use the soprano,
alto and tenor recorders as well as pitched and unpitched
percussion instruments. In this club the students play more
challenging music written specifically for recorder ensembles.
Ensemble participation is both fun and rewarding for
the students, as the pace is faster than the work done in the
general music classroom. Rehearsals will be held in the Music Room
on Thursday mornings before school from 7:45-8:20.

The students earn their place in this ensemble. They must learn
to read and play the seven pitches taught in general music by the
end of the fourth grade. Invitations to participate are sent out in
September. If a student is interested in the club and has not
recieved an invitation, they can talk to Mrs. Oxholm to see what is
required and pick up any needed music.
