deconstructing the landscape
New color and landscape formats
were created by cutting an
original work.
Students created a landscape
image on paper using colored
pencils and markers.
They cut and then repositioned
the sections into a new format on
another paper. |

|
monoprinting
4th grade students used finger
paint to create an image using
foreground, middleground, and
background. They reversed the
image by pressing the paint to
another surface. They
embellished their work using
tempera cakes of color. |

|
tessellating shapes
Students in 4th grade used a
square shape. They cut a small
area from one side and taped it
to the opposite, (parallel) side
of the square. They repeated
this step on another side of the
same square.
They found an interlocking
pattern which they enhanced with
their own creative image idea. |

|
clay sculpture coils/slabs
5th graders used coils and slabs
that were wrapped around an
armature and then released. The
sculpture stayed together,
without collapsing, due to the
armature use.
Under glazes were used along with
a clear liquid glaze for
completion. |

|
self-portrait 4th grade
Students used mirrors and
observed all the lines and shapes
in the mirror. They used a fine
tipped black marker to find the
lines representing their face. |

|
figure drawing and painting
Fifth grade students drew two
students that posed for them.
They used paint for pattern,
illusion of texture, and color. |

|
winter, illusion of depth
Students used black pen on a dark
surface color paper. Lines and
shapes represented their work
showing foreground, middle
ground, and background. They used
white tempera to fill in areas
that would represent snow. |

|
cut paper collage
Students in 4th grade cut paper
and placed in areas that created
pattern and focus in an area. |
