Philosophy

“That all children have different levels of ability, development and learning styles which are expected and accepted.”

Goals

1. To create a comfortable and developmentally appropriate language-based environment where all children will want to learn and socialize with each other.

2. To provide preschool services for typical children and children with special needs in a classroom setting.

3. To meet the individual needs of all the children, and to provide a quality program for all children.

4. To provide opportunities for children to interact with peers who have varying developmental delays, broadening their understanding, creativity, and acceptance of individual differences and similarities.

5. To encourage constructive and accepting relationships between children and to promote positive interaction between children during play.

6. To encourage the development of creativity in all children by providing varied materials, enriching experiences, and teacher assistance to help children develop and extend their ideas.

7. To develop children’s independence and to make any necessary adaptations in toys, material and activities to help children explore their environment and learn through play.

8. To encourage a positive self-concept in all children by giving them a sense of being loved and accepted in the classroom environment.

Curriculum

Our integrated preschool curriculum emphasizes high quality, age- appropriate activities addressing a variety of skills: self-help, social, language, fine and gross motor and readiness.

Through playful interaction with objects and people, the children learn about the physical and social world in which they live. Music and art, dramatic play, books, science, math, cooking, creative movement, puzzles, games, and field trips are all part of our program.

Staff

A certified Special Education/Early Childhood teacher and an aide(s) staff the program. The services of a Speech/Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Nurse and School Psychologist are available to students who qualify for special services.
