Hope you enjoyed the holiday season with your family and friends. It goes
by so quickly. It was nice to have the break, yet we're so glad to be back
and are ready to pick up the pace a bit.

We'd like to welcome a new student and his family to our little
preschool "family". Please introduce yourselves at pick up and drop off.
Max McGary will begin with us Jan. 7th. His parents are Ruth and Craig. Max
is 3 years old.

We'll be focusing on a Sound of the Week each week. This month the sounds
will be M, B, P, and T. For some of the children (our younger group) it
will be an exposure to the letters and sounds. Our older children will be
expected to learn them and use them in different ways. The children will
each have a turn or two to bring home the Sound of the Week jar. They will
be asked to fill the jar with various items that begin with the sound of the
week and then provide clues for the other kids to guess.

This month we'll also be discussing winter and community helpers. We'll be
talking about the different activities you can do in the winter and winter
weather.

We'll also be talking about community helpers, specifically helpers in the
medical field. If any of you are interested in sharing your expertise in
this area, please let me know.

Over the next few weeks I will be writing progress reports for those
community preschoolers who do not have an educational plan. I will be
scheduling parent-teacher conferences in February and March for any parents
who would like to meet with me. More information as to dates and times will
follow. I would be happy to meet with you at any time throughout the year
if you ever have any questions or concerns about your child.
