It is hard to believe that we are almost half way through winter. It
certainly has been kind to us. We have met many more letters and the children
are working on decoding CVC words. Our word wall continues to grow too. In
small groups we are working on reading some early texts and using good reading
strategies. Some of these books come home and some are sets that remain in
school or in the library. They are writing letters more confidently. We are
encouraging them to write their first and last names with upper and lowercase
letters on a more consistent basis. The children have begun journal writing.
They are aware of spaces between words using "spacemen". We are encouraging
full sentences and punctuation.
In math we are working on measurement, "teen" numbers and finding
combinations of 10.
As conferences approach, I look forward to sharing your child's progress
with you. Please remember that it is a "snapshot in time". Your child
continues to grow and change rapidly!
