We have been learning about the letter W, she has wonderful words on her! Our science unit will be learning about weather! Our next science day will be March 18!

In Math we have been learning about patterns and how to name them (AB, AAB, ABC etc) They are becoming pattern experts! We have used cubes, paper shapes, and even cut out pictures to create and extend patterns. We will also start to focus on the numbers 11-20. Being able to identify them and print them. We have also been working on measurement. We have used some non standard units such as cubes and bears and will use rulers to measure in inches.

We have also been working on the ending sounds in words. This will help us when we start writing in our journals. When you are sounding words out with your child, see if s/he can give you the beginning AND ending sound! We have 10 words up on our word wall, these words have been pulled from the small poem booklets that come home each week. So far we have practiced the words....a, at, can, in, is, look, my, on, see, and the. The children are getting good at "reading"/recognizing them!  At your child's conference, you will receive a list of all the sight words.

We are also working on segmenting words and blending sounds. Stretching the words apart and blending the sounds to figure out words.

We started journal writing last month, the kids are doing a great job, trying to figure out how to spell the words on their own (best guess spelling)
