Band Rules

Classroom rules for grade 7&8 band students. Excellent music performance takes hard work, individual practice, and rehearsal. In order to rehearse our music more properly in groups, the following rules must apply. 1. Learn your music. When you come to band practice already able to play much of your music, we are all better off. Lessons with a professional musician can help here. While not mandatory, with a private teacher, you will advance your playing ability at a much faster pace. 2. Be attentive during rehearsals at all times. If you are not playing at the moment, you should be listening. 3. Do not talk, toot or make other noise while the director is speaking. This is rude behavior, and interferes with other student’s education... 4. Bring your instrument and music to school. It does not help our cause when students are not prepared for class. 5. Realize that band class is a group of musicians where everyone is considered important. No one individual is more important than any other. 6. Always, participate in large group rehearsals, when called. The success of the group depends on each individual. 7. Attend all concert performances. Why be part of a band program and miss the performance? 8. Do your best! Students around you will notice!
