*  Startup Activity:  Journal:  Summarize the end of the story (periods 7 and 1 complete handout).

*  Discuss

*  Poet Study Presentation

*  Discuss plot

*  Make “Heart Monitors”

*  Homework:  Bring in your obituary research

 

Frameworks:

 

Standard 9:  Make Connections- Students will

deepen their understanding of literary and non-literary work by relating it to its contemporary context or historical background.

 

Standard 8:  Understanding a Text- Students will identify the basic facts and main ideas in a text and use them as a basis of interpretation.

 

 

Thursday, October 9th:

 

*  Startup Activity: 

*  Poet Study Presentation

*  Pass back graded assignments

o     Make observations about your writing

o     Make observations about your reading

o     Add work to your portfolio

*  Obituary example

*  Begin writing own obituary using research

o     Write a catchy title that includes the name

*  Focus on the following FCAs:

o     4 circled transitions

o     5 squared vivid adjectives

o     Variety in sentence beginnings highlighted

*  Homework:  RD of obituary due Monday

o     (You will have time to work on it if you have this class tomorrow).
