TRACK INFORMATION
For all team members and parents

1. Please attend practices according to the schedule.  Practices are 
important!

2. Meets are scheduled to begin between 3:15-3:30.

3. When an away track meet is scheduled, we will board a bus at about  2:30 
PM and return to Mountview between 6:10-6:30 PM.
Cross Country events are of shorter duration, so we will return about 5:00-
5:15 PM.

4. Parents who attend an away meet and then pick up their son/daughter, may 
do so but should notify the coach, and sign out on our clipboard.

5. Most Practice sessions will end by 4:30-4:45.

6. Tryouts will be held during the first  week of practice. Each participant 
will be timed/measured in the 100, 440, long jump and shot put.
The overall best 20 athletes will be selected from grades 6,7& 8, for a 
total of 20 boys and 20 girls.  These team members will attend track meets, 
and receive uniforms. 
All students are encouraged to participate, and those not designated varsity 
will receive Mountview track singlets and be considered JV.

7. An additional grade 6-7 meet has been scheduled  in which JV members who 
have been attending practice may participate.
JV members who show great improvement over the season may be promoted to 
varsity status.    

8. Our events are: 100 meter dash, 200 meter, 400 meter 800 meter, shot put, 
Long jump, and the mile relay. (1/4 mile per runner)

9. Cross Country: Our course is about 1 and 1/2 miles. All track team 
members 
are expected to participate in each of our 5 cross country meets. JV members 
should also participate in these meets.

10. No athlete can attend meets without a green card and waiver form filled 
out and returned.
