| Welcome parents and students!
During this term we will focus on improving reading comprehension,
particularly the kind of reading we do when we read a complicated novel. We
have six primary objectives to achieve as we read the novel Amelia's War by
Ann Rinaldi this term. Students are writing in a reading comprehension
journal in response to each chapter. We have also developed several "tools"
to help us with reading comprehension - just ask your child!
We will have several reading comprehension quizzes which will enable us to
measure students' progress in this important skill. Please remind your child
that we read for many reasons, and test-taking is just one of them! Reading
for pleasure and entertainment continues simultaneously with our Independent
Reading activity.
If you'd like to help your child in Language Arts this spring, please
consider borrowing or buying your child his or her own copy of the next novel
that we'll be reading in class. This book is currently out of print, but
used ones may still be available at Amazon or you may know a former MOuntview
student who might be able to lend you their copy.
The information you'll need is:
Amelia's War, by Ann Rinaldi, ISBN #0-439-32666-4
Thanks for your patience with my website. Most of it is current, and the
LINKS page is particularly useful. I still work on updating this entire
website when I can, and when it is fully updated I will let you know on this
page.
The homework page is current and I update that page on Mondays!
Feel free to contact me at school or by email at
Lauren_Knight@wrsd.net should you ever have any questions.
Thanks for your support!
