Welcome to Sixth Grade at Mountview Middle School!
 
I am very excited to start middle school with you.  Organization is 
one key to success.  Let’s make sure we all have our supplies for 
language arts class.  Come to class with these supplies as soon as 
possible, but no later than Monday, September 16, 2008.

School Supplies for Mrs. Ryan’s Language Arts Class:

The correct supplies are important in the 6th grade.  You should 
have a red binder for language arts class.  Your binder will store 
all you need to be successful in language arts class.  
	In your binder, please include five dividers.  Label them as 
follows:
1.	Grammar and Spelling
2.	Writing
3.	Literature
4.	Independent Reading
5.	Poetry

In each section, include about ten sheets of loose-leaf filler 
paper.  I will be giving you many handouts to store in these 
sections as we go through the year.  You will need your red binder 
in class every day, and many times it will go home with you to 
complete homework and to study for tests.  
	
You should also have for class each day:
1.	agenda book
2.	homework folder
3.	pen, pencil, ruler
4.	independent reading book

FYI: By November 1st, you will need a 2”-3” binder, which will serve 
as a language arts portfolio.  This binder will remain in the 
classroom and will be used to store and display all you assignments 
throughout the year.
