~Amelia's War Test today.  You should review with your study guide and I have also put the Jeopardy game on my handouts page, if you'd like to review that way!

Remember that there is no spell check and you cannot save your work, so check it carefully before printing.   Many of you are electing to use Microsoft Word which is also fine.  A few extra points will be given if you put effort into making your final drafts pleasing to look at!

1.  Bring in anything you have completed so far on your heritage project.  Ideally, you will have completed your interview at this point and may have begun typing up your answers.  Remember to use the link on my handouts page so you don't need to retype the questions!

    If you haven't already done so, please bring in a 2 to 3 inch binder that can serve as your LA portfolio.  We will be beginning to assemble these this week!

    Challenger Center Field Trip is today!  Please remember your bagged lunch that does not contain nut products.  No sweatshirts should be worn but do dress warmly (or in layers) as we will be walking around the campus at times.

    Nothing---Think heritage project!  The make beliefs are due tomorrow.   The typed draft with the checklist is due no later than next Friday, but feel free to turn this in as soon as you are finished.  You are welcome to email it to me or put it on a flash drive to show me to save on paper.

    Typed draft of the heritage interview with checklist is due.  All formatting requirements are expected to be met.  You must check off that these requirements have been met on your heritage checklist and turn this in with your draft.  The hardest part of this project is now over!  Hooray for your accomplishment

      If you did not finish the handwritten open response in class on Tuesday, it is due today. Remember: We are striving for a score of a four. Put your best effort into it the first time because this month we will keep writing open responses until I am certain you understand them. There is a big difference between struggling with writing responses and simply not putting effort into them!

      A handwritten copy of your winter poem is due today. Be sure to follow the requirements on the direction sheet handed out on Monday. 

      Friday, March 2nd   
      1.  Your completed poetry packet is due today. Your three responses should display your best effort.
      2. We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday, so bring your favorite Dr. Seuss books and an IR book!

      This is an extra season poem.  It can be another winter poem or any other season you love or love to hate!  This follows all the same requirements as your winter poem--->It must be at least 20 lines.  You must write a rough draft and improve upon it with your final draft.  It must also have 4 different poetic devices. 

      Tuesday, April 3rd - Term 3 ends!
      1.  "Isabel " poem, "I Can't Write a Poem" poem, Emotion poem, and Ode Poem should all be typed and turned in by the end of today.

      Amelia's WarQuiz today!  This is on the prologue to chapter 3.  Take home your study guide and handouts and be sure you know all the people, places, and things we have learned about up to this point.

      Book Fair today!  Bring money if you would like to purchase anything.  You received your 7th grade summer reading list (which all are suggestions) and may want to get your books for the summer.


      Wednesday, May 2nd-

      Typed FINAL draft of your persuasive essay due
      You should turn in all papers pertaining to the essay in the following order:
      Final draft, Typed Rough draft, peer editing sheet, self editing sheet, written draft templates, fact finder sheet, and persuasion map


      Friday May 4th-
      Typed Works Cited page due for your persuasive essay.  See your directions sheet for general directions on how to do this.  If you have sources outside of the SIRS database or the Gale Opposing Viewpoints database, there is a link on my "links" page and a PDF handout on my "handouts" page that you can use to help set up your citations. 

      Monday, May 7th-
      No homework due--work on historical fiction assignments (if you haven't already done these in class)


      Tuesday, May 8th-
      SignedAmelia's War Quiz due  *If you earned less than a 75%, you are required to take a "retake" that I will average with the original quiz grade.  You may also do the retake if you had above a 75%. Extra help sessions to work on the retake are available on Wednesday afterschool until 3:45 and Thursday AM at 7:40. 

      Wednesday, May 9th-

      Historical Fiction assignments are finally due! You have had a lot of class time to work on these:

      Your Personal Narrative should be completely written (or typed-if you so choose)

      nothing due--work on typing up your essay and read your realistic fiction book.

      Wednesday, May 23rd-
      Your personal narrative essay needs to be typed for today.  We will be editing in class.

      Thursday May 24th-
      nothing due--fix up your essay, if you'd like, and read your realistic fiction book.

      Friday May 25th-
      Final typed draft of your personal narrative should be turned in.

      NEXT WEEK...

      No School on Monday!

      ATTENTION!  If you had a poor grade on your Works Cited page, you can re-do this and I will average the two grades.  The directions and an example are on my handouts page if you have lost this.  This is due no later than Tuesday!
