Nightly Homework

NIGHTLY READING
Students are expected to read or be read to 4 to 5 nights per week, for approximately 20 minutes.  Parents often presume that once their child learns to read he/she should be doing his/her own reading.  However, your child is not too old to be read to.  It can be a powerful experience to expand his/her comprehension skills by discussing his/her thoughts about the story.  It can also be a relaxing time with your child.

MATH FACT PRACTICE
Students are expected to practice addition and subtraction facts at home.  Knowing facts with automaticity can increase your child's understanding of math concepts.  He/She is able to better understand our work with concepts because he/she better understands the combinations and patterns of numbers.  We spend almost all of our time working on concepts and problem-solving.
