English Department Extra Credit Policy – Effective 22 September

I. Extra Credit
Periodically, MVRCS English teachers will offer optional
assignments.
These assignments will serve to enrich the curriculum by
providing students the opportunity to more deeply explore a
curricular topic.
II. Essay and Test Corrections
In order to promote student achievement through reflection and
revision, MVRCS English teachers will allow students to rewrite
Tier One essays.
When teachers return graded essays to students, they will provide
students with a deadline for revisions (to be determined by
teachers, based on the nature of the essay).
Teachers will arrive at a final grade by averaging the original
essay’s grade and the revised essay’s grade.
Teachers will not allow students to correct tests.
