OBJECTIVE Students will understand the background to the narrative. The Education of Frederick Douglass, Pt 1: Blacks intellectually and emotionally inferior?  Douglass's perception of racism. The Education of Frederick Douglass, Pt 2: How FD distinguishes himself from racist stereotypes The Education of Frederick Douglass, Pt 3: The long-term personal effects of FD's education Comparing and contrasting FD's early and late accounts of his escape from slavery.
HOMEWORK Read Chapters 1, 2 and 3, 4 in Frederick Douglass.  Answer Questions. Read Chapters 5, 6, 7, and 8. Answer Questions.  Read Chapters 9 and 10  Answer Questions Read Ch 11 and questions  Finish Chapter 10 for Monday.  Answer Reading Questions.
