Hello All,
As my second year hear at Naquag soars by I'd like to say it's been a joy
this year working with the students. Knowing them on a first name basis has
been a huge benefit in my second year. Each student brings a different
personality to the class. I really enjoy watching them progress. As the year
has gone by they have become more adapt and comfortable with my approach.
Improvements in their motor-skills, conditioning and behavior in the physical
activities setting have improved !
So far this year we have covered units in gymnastics, volleyball, soccer,
throwing and catching (k-2nd), football, and adventure games. Giving the
students exposure to a wide variety of activities/skill development
scenarios, will further increase their chances at a healthy lifestyle. The
students have shown alot of dedication to the wide variety of
sports/dance/gymnastics activities.
I'd like to take a chance to highlight the 4th/5th graders fitness testing
this year. In the fall I made up some recording sheets that they use to
monitor progress. We just finished the winter testing. Huge gains have been
made! I try to emphasize holding steady physical fitness levels. Also that
each students levels will be different. My hopes is to see an increase in
strength/fitness or a measurement of maintained physical fitness. I was very
impressed by their scores. All their hard work is paying off.

To offer a wide variety of skill building activities in all three Physical
Education themes. Along with sport education the students will receive units
in Dance and Gymnastics. The more activities the students receive
instruction on.... the more well rounded they will become.
Along with offering a wide range of activities, I want every student to
understand and appreciate the need to stay active for their entire lives. It
is my goal to keep all the students active not only in my class, but outside
of school. Making them understand how important it is to lead a very healthy
and active life.
