My name is Gregg Dollas. I was born in Salisbury, Massachusetts, where I
lived until the third grade. At the end of third grade, my family moved to
Byfield, MA, where my parents currently live. In High School I played
football my freshman year and then played soccer my remaining year because of
shoulder injuries. I also played basketball and baseball all four years. I
graduated from Triton High School in 1993.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Speech
Communications from Bridgewater State College in 1998. At Bridgewater State
College, I had my own radio show on Friday mornings from 8-11. I have a
Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and Technology from Lesley University.
I graduated from college in 1998. Newbury Elementary school hired me to take
over a maternity leave, and I have been here ever since. I have taught
grades 4-6. I am currently a 6th grade teacher. This year, 2011-2012, will
be the fifth year in a row that I will be teaching 6th grade.
From 1998-2005 I coached Triton Youth Basketball and AAU. I was the Triton
JV basketball coach from 2006 to 2010. Last year, 2011, I made a big
decision to coach in Newburyport when I was hired as the girls’ varsity
basketball coach. We won the Cape Ann League DIV 2 my first year and sported
a 13-7 record, won CAL coach of the year, and advanced to the second round of
the playoffs. It was a great year.
I met my wife, Beth, in March of 2000. I used a famous line to get her
attention at the bubbler at the Fitness Factory in Newburyport. I cannot
disclose my secrets. We were engaged November 17, 2001. I proposed to her
at the end of a play we were in on stage on front of family, friends, and
strangers. She said yes. We married on July 19, 2003. We had our daughter
Emma January 10, 2006. We have moved three times since we married, and now
we are in a house we love.
