Sci-Tech Update

The end of the year is drawing close very quickly.  Students should have gotten a clear picture of any missing work on the recent interim.  If they have fears have them check with their teachers so there are no surprises on the last report card.

Grade 8 - I am collaborating with Mr. Wahlstrom on an engineering project with the students.  They are building model bridges using pasta.  So if they come home telling you they need to go out and buy linguine or fettuccine it is true.  The big weigh off day will be June 12th.  This is their last project/assignment of the year.  There is a written component as well.  It is a busy time of year for them, so they will need to make the best use of what little class time is left.

Grade 7 - We will be ending our study of human body systems this week and start with the classification of living organisms next week.  There is a summer reading for the sciences.  Detail on this will go home with students before the end of the year.  They also begin grade 8 with a photojournal project.  It runs from September until December.  Photos taken over the summer are eligible.  A description of the assignment will be reviewed before years end and posted on this website.
