HOMEWORK (Specific Information)

A Reading Log is sent home at the beginning of each month.  Reading 20 minutes each day is homework.  The reading log should be filled in daily and returned on the due date written at the top of the Reading Log.

Reading is probably the most important skill that you and I can impart to your children.  Reading is the foundation for success in life.  Please read with your children.  Please take the  time to read for 10 minutes and then let your child read to you out loud for 10 minutes.  Fluency in reading occurs after repeated practice of oral reading.

Should you have questions about helping your child with reading fluency and comprehension, please email me or call me...I am available most days after 3 pm.

Homework is used as reinforcement of concepts taught in the classroom.  Homework is NOT used as a means to introduce students to new concepts.  Your child will have been taught in the classroom and homework is sent home as practice based on what has been taught in the classroom.
